🎨 Colours that are here to stay: These are the interior trend colours for 2023 – according to Design Squad
New year, new luck… or rather: new year, new colour! When the world outside remains grey, it’s all the more colourful inside. At least when Mia has something to say (spoiler: she does!). We’re celebrating 2023 with colours that encourage, bring calm and transform rooms into real feel-good worlds.
We – your Design Squad – have once again thrown together what we do best: Colour (Mia), space (Lisa), light (Lena), material (Alex) and architecture (Noah). And today we’ll tell you which colours have what it takes to play the leading role in your home in 2023 – without hex codes, but with heart.
🌿 1. sage green – the new neutral (according to Mia: “The avocado of wall colours”)
Neither too loud nor too soft. Sage green is like a calming tea on a hectic day – gentle, grounding and always stylish. Lisa likes to combine it with beige and light-coloured woods for the “Scandi chill” look.
💡 Lighting tip from Lena: Sage green looks super fresh in daylight and slightly subdued in warm artificial light – perfect for living rooms and bedrooms.
🔑 Keywords: sage green, natural tones, tranquillity
🧡 2. terracotta – warm support with statement character
Alex enthuses: “Terracotta brings warmth, depth and grounding – and looks great on a rough wall structure.” In combination with matt brass or light-coloured curtains, it looks particularly cosy.
Noah also recommends it as an accent colour in open-plan rooms – e.g. in the hallway to create an immediate atmosphere.
🔑 Keywords: terracotta, warm colours, depth
💙 3. misty blue – as soft as Sundays
Lena says: “Misty blue is like a Sunday morning by the lake. Calm, cool, but somehow comforting.” Ideal for the bathroom or study – wherever clarity and serenity are required.
💡 Combination love: Mia mixes it with grey and dark wood – and there you have it, a boutique hotel feel.
🔑 Keywords: misty blue, cool tones, serenity
💛 4. vanilla pudding – cream colours with a twist
Sounds delicious, and it is. In 2023, many designers are focusing on warm, creamy yellow tones as a soft alternative to white. Lisa uses them in large areas to make small rooms appear larger and friendlier.
Lighting tip from Lena: It’s best combined with indirect lighting – that makes it shine.
🔑 Keywords: vanilla shade, warm white, brightness
🎯 Conclusion: Colour trends are not a dictate – they are a playground
Our credo: colour must suit you, not the algorithm. 2023 invites you to experiment, feel and design spaces the way you want to feel.
And hey – if you’re unsure, ask Mia. Or Alex. Or… the whole squad. We’re just a comment away.
