1. “One wall, a thousand wow moments: Accent colours that instantly wake up your room”
2. intro
“I want to highlight a wall – but which one, how and with what colour?” – friend Bruna asked us this question over a cappuccino. A clear case for the whole Design Squad: Mia 🎨 (colour), Lisa 🛋️ (space), Lena 💡 (light), Alex 🌿 (material) and Noah 🏗️ (architecture) tinker together and reveal their everyday tips here. You don’t need to be a colour pro – just a little curiosity.
3rd question and answer session

Which wall is suitable as an accent wall?
-
Lisa 🛋️: “Take the wall that you see first when you enter the room – that’s your natural eye-catcher.”
-
Noah 🏗️: “Make sure it’s technically clear: no rough water pipes, no huge heating system.”
How dark can the colour be without making the room look smaller?
-
Mia 🎨: “Dark is fine if you only colour one wall. Leave the rest in a light neutral colour and the dark area will look like extra depth instead of a cave wall.”
Should I paint first or choose furniture first?
-
Alex 🌿: “Mood board first: colour + upholstery fabric + carpet. Otherwise your sofa will clash with the wall later.”
Can I use wallpaper instead of paint?
-
Mia 🎨: “Yes – patterns work brilliantly on individual surfaces. But leave enough in reserve so that the repeat looks right.”
-
Lisa 🛋️: “And keep the rest smooth, otherwise it’ll be too wild.”
Light: Do I need to light the accent wall separately?
-
Lena 💡: “Absolutely! A wallwasher or picture light brings out the depth. Without light, even the coolest colour looks dull.”
4. mini Quickrules box

Short problem | Compact squad solution |
---|---|
“Colour looks too hard” | Choose matt instead of glossy colour |
“Room becomes darker” | Increase ambient light, illuminate wall with spotlight |
“Pattern creates confusion” | Max. one patterned surface, rest plain |
“Wallpaper can be removed” | Non-woven wallpaper with soft paste in a rented flat |
