Goodbye to chaos! Turn your home into an oasis of well-being with these 5 design tricks

Experience furnishing tips and design live at www.bruno-wickart.ch.

“How am I supposed to relax here when there’s stuff flying around everywhere?” – Bruna asked herself this question when she stumbled across the same cable box for the third time. And that’s where we come in – your personal design squad: Mia (colour), Lisa (space), Lena (light), Alex (material) and Noah (architecture). Together, we’ll transform any chaos into a real feeling of home. We promise.

In this article, we’ll show you how you can bring air, peace and quiet and your favourite atmosphere back into your four walls with simple but well thought-out measures. Without the need for minimalism, but with latte macchiato lightness and a good shot of squad power!

🛋️ Tip 1: Structure rooms with zones (Lisa says: “Every cup needs its territory”)

Sounds simple, but it’s worth its weight in gold: rooms work better when each activity has its own area. Work at the table, relax on the sofa, store things on the sideboard – not the other way round. Bruna has solved this with a simple room-in-room solution: a carpet for the reading corner, a narrow screen for the home office area. The new clarity is complete.

🔑 Keywords: room layout, structure, creating zones

🎨 Tip 2: Use colours cleverly – Mia mixes order with feeling

Mia swears by “visual order through colour groups”. In other words, when cushions, books and decorations harmonise in colour, everything looks tidier. Her favourite combination? Sage green meets dusky pink – calming, warm, unagitated.

💡 Squad hack: Use one main colour and pull it through decorations, textiles and furniture handles. Ensures cohesion!

🔑 Keywords: colour harmony, order through colour, interior mood

💡 Tip 3: Light for structure and mood – Lena’s layer principle

One room – one light? Please don’t! Lena advises: Use three light sources per room – ceiling light for an overview, floor lamp for atmosphere, LED spotlights for highlights (e.g. shelves). This will not only make your room appear clearer, but also larger.

🛠️ Bonus: Bruna has converted an old jam jar into a soft light source – DIY at its best!

🔑 Keywords: lighting design, layer lighting, atmosphere

🪵 Tip 4: Reduce materials with Alex – less mix, more calm

Open shelf with 8 vases, 5 tins, 4 styles? Alex says: Concentrating materials creates visual order. For example, use natural materials such as wood and rattan for storage – this not only looks calmer, but also more sustainable.

🎯 Tip: IKEA hacks + baskets = organisation with style

🔑 Keywords: materials, calm, natural order

🏛️ Tip 5: Architectural tricks – Noah lifts the ceiling

Sounds nerdy, but it’s effective: vertical lines, wall shelves up to the ceiling or floor-to-ceiling curtains – all of these draw the eye upwards and open up the room. Bruna says: “I always thought my hallway was tiny. Now it feels like a loft!”

🔧 Test tip: Stick test strips on the wall and observe the effect of the room in daylight.

💬 Conclusion: Tidiness is not a goal – it’s a feeling

With the right colours, clear structures, the right light and a bit of architectural magic, you’ll notice: Your home will suddenly feel lighter – and so will you.

🔄 Over the next few weeks, we’ll show you how to establish order in your bedroom, hallway and kitchen – always with a smile on your face and the Design Squad by your side.
