Is your employer urging you to work from home more often? But please do it in style. Here are some ideas on how to set up your workspace at home in a tasteful and productive way.
You really don’t want to have the standard office workstation at home. Design your home office so that it matches the rest of your home.
A creative workspace is also allowed. Above all, it is important to keep your home tidy so that your head is free for new ideas. This is particularly important at home, so that a distance can be created between life and work.
For many people, working from home is an essential prerequisite for improving their own work-life balance. The range of flexible working models is expanding, as working from home offers advantages for both employers and employees.
Tips for employees working from home
- Time structure: To organize your processes (including start and end of work or breaks), align your daily routine in the home office with that in the office.
- Spatial separation : Separate your workplace at home from the rest of your home and set it up appropriately for your work.
- Contact with work colleagues: To avoid being forgotten, you should always keep in touch with colleagues in the office by phone, email or social media when working from home.
The central piece of furniture for your new home office is, of course, the desk
Plan furnishing solutions so that work situations also fit into the home. We can suggest the following concepts:
Röthlisberger Collection
Writing desk At-At

Design by Tomoko Azumi & Barbara Etter
At-At – the graceful and functional writing desk. Japanese design awareness is combined here with the tradition of the writing desk. A timeless piece of furniture that moves with the times: it offers space for laptops of all sizes, cables and transformers for electronic devices can be stored in a special compartment, and there is also the right place for a fountain pen and paper.
Ovolo

Design: Moritz Schmid
Ovolo is the ideal partner for anyone with imagination and a fresh approach to design. Sophisticated details and numerous functions make it a creative accomplice where the most important things are always within reach. The table top forms seamlessly into the characteristic kink, which provides storage space for writing utensils, cables or iPads. The top continues into an angled back panel, which enlarges the work area as a magnetic and leaning surface. Solid wood elements structure the table surface into individual areas and add practical bookends. Ovolo is a desk for working, making plans and dreaming.
WOGG
WOGG TIRA – FROM TABLE TO TABLE
The WOGG TIRA product line includes all Wogg tables. This ranges from the classic living room or office tables by designers Alfredo Häberli, Jörg Boner or Hans Eichenberger, to the studio table, the folding tables and, last but not least, the sitting table.

MOX Lola console
Slim The Lola console leans sturdily against any wall or window, not just in the hallway. The integrated compartment provides discreet storage space. Thanks to its visual lightness and slim dimensions, Lola fits elegantly into a variety of furnishing styles.
YOMEI SMART DESK

Design: André Schelbach
MAGIC DESK is Yomei’s innovative interpretation of a classic secretary desk. When closed, the magical desk resembles an elegant, delicate sideboard. When the flap is opened using precisely crafted stainless steel hinges, the depth of the writing surface increases from 43 to 62 cm (height 73 cm). This also reveals the professional interior fittings of the MAGIC DESK: two textile drawers, triple socket and cable tray organize the extraordinary home office. The cabling runs invisibly through the high-quality stainless steel frame.
Thonet S 1200
DesignThonet Design Team: Randolf Schott, 2014
Filigree and functional: the Thonet S 1200 writing desk
In different versions and with optional accessories, the filigree S 1200 writing desk becomes a very personal piece of furniture and turns working into an experience. The design by the Thonet design team is inspired by the company’s own collection of classic tubular steel furniture. The decisive advantage of the S 1200 lies in its compact dimensions, which allow it to be integrated into the smallest of living spaces. The S 1200 is based on a sophisticated tubular steel frame, the inclination of which makes it easy to stand up even in narrow corridors and niches.
VITRA Compas Direction
Design: Jean Prouvé, 1953
The elegantly splayed, slender metal legs of the Compas Direction desk by Jean Prouvé are formally reminiscent of the legs of a circle – „le compas“ in French. They are designed in the constructive approach typical of the French constructor and designer and, together with the oiled solid wood table tops, form a contrasting mix of materials in the home office.
VITRA Home Desk
Design: George Nelson, 1958

The high-quality materials of the home desk, designed by George Nelson in 1958 as a ladies‘ secretary, emphasize its graceful elegance. Nowadays, the compact table is mostly used in the home office, where its colorful compartments add a decorative accent.
VITRA Joyn table

Joyn reflects the dynamics of the modern office, because the space allocated to each workstation is fundamentally flexible with this office system. Joyn opens up new perspectives for office planning: one and the same configuration supports both high and low density use.
MOORMANN KANT TABLE

A striking edge gives this desk its characteristic appearance. Books, folders and many other items can be stored in the crease of the worktop, so that the worktop itself remains uncluttered. So much „enlightenment“ on the desk would certainly also please namesake Immanuel. Kant is a talented organizer with a working depth of 70 cm (total depth 105 cm), while the dimensions and proportions of the Kant secretary desk are tailored to the living area.

YOMEI
FOLD Container

FOLD is the name of the container as a practical addition to the Magic Desk. Straightforward design made from a combination of polished or matt stainless steel with fine details and functional storage space characterize this roll container. The top shelf can be folded out and can be extended from 41 cm to 82 cm, providing a large storage surface and alternatively a space-saving solution when the shelf is folded in. 2 drawers in an elegant design with textile leather frames and a velvet base offer plenty of storage space. There is a small drawer with an insert for pens and a large drawer that can also be used to store files or a suspension file. The drawers open with light pressure. This look without handles means that the clear lines are also reflected in the front. Alternatively, the pedestal is also available with 3 drawers.
Don’t underestimate ergonomics at home either
Sitting/standing tables
Infinitely height-adjustable without any power consumption
If you don’t need any accessories, but value the simplest, quickest and therefore most efficient height adjustment, this version is the ideal solution. The hinged tray also enables quick and easy cabling.
Home office – the right office chair
You will also need a seat in any case. For occasional use, a good folding chair or a dining chair that you take from the dining table for use at your desk will certainly do. However, if you want to spend longer periods of time at your desk or use your home office several days a week, you should not do without a good swivel chair.
VITRA EAMES EA 101, EA 103 and EA 104 by Charles and Ray Eames

With the Plastic Chairs by Charles and Ray Eames, the large selection of bases allows them to be used in a wide variety of locations: the Pivot Armchair Cast Base on Castors (PACC) with its height-adjustable swivel base is ideal for the home office. The color and upholstery options make it possible to configure chairs to suit a wide variety of interiors.
Home office: good light for working
Designer:
John Ritschl-Lassoudry /
Samantha Ritschl-Lassoudry
Twilight, awarded the Design Plus prize, is the epitome of individual room and mood lighting. Two light sources inside the art glass body, located at the top and bottom, emit the light powerfully against each other, creating an extremely pleasant atmosphere. The indirect light can also be used to illuminate living rooms, bedrooms, dining areas and entrances via the ceiling.
The indirect ambient light and the direct mood lighting can be dimmed independently of each other. The Made in Switzerland lights from Belux impress with their quality and high-quality workmanship.
