The fun side of building

For over a year, we were able to deal with a wide variety of topics, most of which we had hardly any idea about at the beginning: electrical planning, kitchen construction, room layouts, tiles and fittings, floors, wall colors and much more. All the decisions that had to be made were preceded by countless hours and short nights of research. Now that most of the sub-projects have been completed, we are increasingly turning our attention back to the interior design. We already have concrete ideas and want to stay true to our minimalist style, but at the same time become a little more modern. So it’s time to visit the Bruno Wickart exhibition in Zug, among other things. Over three floors, we can see everything our hearts desire. The large selection of brands leaves hardly anything to be desired and although the online store shows an extended range, we immediately fall in love with some of the items on display. The Eames Lounge Chair from Vitra , for example, has been particularly appealing to Michel for some time now. However, due to other priorities, we will have to wait a little longer for this one (but it could turn out to be a present for his 40th birthday ????).

The Vitra exhibition is extensive and we spend most of our time here. Here we find countless variations of classic chairs such as the DSW or the DAW. One floor down, we would have taken the Zoe More armchair by Verzelloni with us, but we still have to find a suitable spot for it. We would also like a sideboard from USM Haller, but are still undecided as to whether we should stick with a natural oak version.

Lamps, however, are almost our biggest construction site, even though we are already mostly through with our selection. For the library/office room, we are still flirting with the Glo-Ball 2 by Flos and the Petite Potence by Vitra, which we were not able to see live on site, but were able to devote ourselves all the more to the Occhio lamps.

In the end, we decided on two Mito Volo lights in the color Phantom, which we will place above the cooking island. We received extensive advice on this from a specialist. We placed the order straight away.

Our entrance area also leaves a lot to be desired. We didn’t have any concrete ideas for this yet. We do have a wardrobe, but it’s not right by the entrance to the apartment. A space-saving hanging coat rack such as the Unu from Frost Denmark or the Hang it all from Vitra, combined with a bench and a wall mirror. But as nothing in the exhibition itself appealed to us, we will spend a little more time on the web store.

Apart from that, we are well equipped and happy with our current furniture for the time being. The combination of old and new seems harmonious to us and one or two pieces of furniture will certainly find their way into our new home over time.
