The big day has arrived

We had imagined the day of the move (and the preparations for it) a little differently. We tested positive for coronavirus the week before and caught a stomach bug two days before the date – c’est la vie. Nevertheless, on March 24th, we started loading the car on time at 7:30 in the morning.

The removal company did a fantastic job, working flat out. Our beloved pieces of furniture found their way to their new home without a scratch. As soon as everything was loaded, we were able to unload the items just ten minutes later. Half time. Now it’s time to set up, tidy up and hang up. We spent our time until the early hours of the morning removing all the protective film and getting the furniture we had already ordered out of its original packaging. We were almost overwhelmed by the sheer volume of cardboard. Nevertheless, it was more than just fun to finally put our new favorites in their final destination. Above all, because the ideas we had beforehand were completely fulfilled. Nothing turned out to be a bad purchase. The Hay AAL82 from Bruno Wickart for the children’s room arrived on time in the afternoon.
Better an end with a scare than a scare without an end

The first two days were packed with workmen’s appointments. Our glass wall was installed, the painter touched up small imperfections, the kitchen fitter adjusted the fridge, the carpenter fixed the acoustic panels and centered the blinds. And a lot more besides. Fortunately, we were spared any major defects and we are glad that we timed the appointments so closely together. It does involve a bit of stress and coordination, but it quickly brings peace and quiet and the dirt and dust can be removed quickly.
The finishing touches

Today, around five days after moving in, we already feel at home. We’re still missing a few things like plants and pictures, but we’re taking our time. We are also slowly but surely familiarizing ourselves with the new kitchen appliances – even if the induction hob is already claiming its first victims. Incidentally, we can recommend the V-Zug combi-tumbler, which also has a hot-air dryer, saving us a trip to the drying room.

We are over the moon to finally be able to set foot in our own apartment after almost two years and are looking forward to everything that is to come.
