in 1956, Germany was still characterized by the classic furnishing style. The whole of Germany? No, a small bucket chair set out to change the design language of the era. Its allies came from Scandinavia, the Bauhaus and the avant-garde. The armchair countered the straight lines of the time with flowing lines and sculptural curves. Experiments with new materials and the development of plastic made this possible. In the Classic Edition, the 369 armchair is a reminder that Walter Knoll has often stood for the avant-garde. And that yesterday, as today, it produces design that has lasting validity.
