VITRA: Wire Chair LKR
Design: Charles & Ray Eames, 1951
Charles and Ray Eames used various models of the small LKR armchair – also in the LSR plastic shell version – in their legendary home in Pacific Palisades, the Eames House. Like all other Wire Chairs, the LKR is available without upholstery, with a seat cushion or with seat and back cushions – also known as a „bikini“. The version without upholstery can also be used outdoors.
New colors
The Wire Chair LKR is available in four new colors based on the color palette designed by Charles and Ray Eames. Vitra has developed the fresh colors Citron, Sky Blue, Dark Green and Eames Sea Foam Green.

In addition to new, fresh colors for the powder coating of the wire construction, Vitra is now adding the Eames Wire Chair LKR (Lounge Height K-Shell R-Wire Base) to the chair family in collaboration with the Eames Office. Charles and Ray Eames used various models of this small armchair in their legendary home in Pacific Palisades, the Eames House – both indoors and outdoors. The LKR can also be used indoors and outdoors.
Product family: Wire Chair
With the Wire Chair made of welded steel wire, Charles and Ray Eames have varied the theme of the organically shaped, one-piece seat shell with an expression of light transparency and high technicality. The seat shell can be combined with different bases and the Wire Chairs are available without upholstery, with a seat cushion or with seat and back cushions – also known as a „bikini“.
Matching products: Soft Seats
Soft Seats are loose seat cushions that provide soft comfort on unupholstered chairs. They are available in three shapes and can be used for different seating positions
different chairs. The cover is available in a variety of colors in different fabrics and leather.
The upholstery of the Soft Seats consists of a two-centimeter-thick, dimensionally stable thermal fleece that ensures pleasant comfort and, unlike polyurethane foam upholstery, is 100% recyclable. The covers are easy to remove thanks to the zipper – for dry cleaning or changing. On request, the Soft Seats can be provided with a non-slip coating on one side.

- Upholstery: 2 cm thick polyester thermal fleece, 100% recyclable.
- Cover: fabric or leather, with zipper (always black), removable. Can be dry-cleaned.
