VITRA: Suggestions and ideas for safe working

After COVID-19 and the experience of working from home, companies are making conscious decisions about whether and how to set up an office location that reflects their self-image and values.

Working from home is definitely better, cheaper and healthier than being in a poorly designed office. If a company wants to operate an office location, it must be attractively designed. Many companies will want to adapt to the new conditions with new structures after the pandemic. Repetitive, standardized tasks will be digitized, while classic desk work will be moved from the costly office location to the home office. Creative or highly sensitive core tasks such as R&D, brand management, innovation or management are likely to remain in a fixed location that encourages spontaneous exchange and mutual inspiration. A productive balance is created in a high-quality office environment that reflects the corporate identity. Agile, flexible workplaces enable economic activity in line with the business cycle.

The long-term effects of the pandemic are still unknown. The return to the office has begun and now requires quick solutions to design the office in such a way that employees are protected and further spread can be prevented.

In this factbook you will find a few suggestions and ideas for supplementing existing work settings and planning examples of how you can make your existing office „corona-proof“ with Quick-Fixes.

VITRA SOLUTIONS

CDS Workstations

Antonio Citterio, 2016The modular CDS office desk system enables configurations of individual desks, clusters in any number, large workbenches and meeting tables in various sizes. All of these tables are available at a fixed height or as manual or motorized sit-stand solutions. The overall design is based on a uniform base frame, which is largely pre-assembled with fold-out legs. This means that CDS also meets the highest requirements for flexibility in planning, use, logistics, assembly and service.

Easy-to-clean materials and surfaces

Regular cleaning of individual surfaces is recommended in order to implement sustainable hygiene standards in offices and public spaces. However, as the materials are subject to particular wear and tear, particularly robust surfaces and materials are advisable.

With a base frame made of powder-coated metal and table surfaces made of MDF or melamine, these are included as standard with CDS

The demands placed on office workspaces today are more diverse than ever before. A wide variety of tasks, from creative processes and intensive team projects to administrative activities and concentrated individual work, call for versatile solutions.

The modular CDS office table system meets these requirements: it enables configurations of individual tables, clusters in any number, large workbenches and meeting tables in various sizes. All of these tables are available at a fixed height or as manual or motorized sit-stand solutions.

The authentic industrial aesthetic of CDS conveys the character of a system characterized by technical solutions. This impression is reinforced when you look at the design details. The most practical solution was sought for every function: easily accessible electrification options, cable baskets and cable guides create order, the screens provide shielding, as do the sophisticated roller blinds, which are taken over by the higher table top when the tables are raised or lowered – and the discreet technology rail, which is flush with the table top, can be fitted with screen and light holders as well as containers and accessories completely without tools.

The overall design of the office desk system is based on a uniform base frame, which is largely pre-assembled with fold-out legs. This means that CDS also meets the highest requirements for flexibility in planning, use, logistics, assembly and service.

Office

For more than quinquante years, Vitra has been developing functional and innovative office furniture with a convincing aesthetic. The importance of the office has not diminished over the years, with intelligently designed workspaces playing a decisive role in the success and identity of a company. Together with its clients, Vitra creates concepts on measure, capable of associating in the space the challenges of everyday life – such as acceleration, technological progress and social change – with the culture specific to the company concerned.

Public

Since it began manufacturing the creations of George Nelson and Charles and Ray Eames in the 1950s, the company has also been involved in the development of public spaces. The construction of airports and garages, cultural institutions and educational structures, cafés, restaurants and hotels allows Vitra to showcase the positive impact of design.
