Suita sofa system from Vitra
The Suita sofa system is characterized by a light yet industrial-technical aesthetic. The geometrically clear body and cushions float on bridge-like, slender legs, which can be seen as an homage to American mid-century design. The Suita sofa family consists of a variety of individual components. These can be used as stand-alone elements or combined and adapt to a wide variety of living spaces and furnishing requirements.
The seat and back cushions are available in a firm and a soft version.
Choice of upholstery shape
The elegant Suita sofa family is made up of a variety of components that can all be combined with each other. The cushion variants allow this system to be further adapted to personal needs and preferences.
The clearly shaped body, a tubular steel construction encased in molded polyurethane foam with a belted spring base, forms the basis for all Suita components. It can be fitted with firmly upholstered seat cushions or soft reversible cushions.
The back cushions are available in two shapes:
Classic cushion: Elegant shape with large back cushions, straightforwardly elegant and formal, available in firm and soft upholstery quality.
Pointed cushion: Casually comfortable shape with soft comfort that invites you to sit or lie down and relax.
Headboard, shelves, feet and frame
Rear-mounted shelves make the free-standing Suita sofa the ideal place to do small jobs with a chair and laptop. Positioned against the wall, the shelf creates an additional storage and decorative surface. And a headboard not only provides support, but also creates a certain acoustic and visual separation when sitting on the sofa.
Bridge-like legs support the body of Suita. Shelves and headboards are also attached to them. Their height of 25 cm gives the Suita sofa a comfortable seat height. The legs and frame are available in polished aluminum and powder-coated in softlight and basic dark.
In leather
The four different types of high-quality leather available for Suita not only offer different material properties, but also a wide range of colors for individual configurations. The meticulous stitching is a formal design feature of Suita in leather, whose upholstery quality can be selected in soft or firm.
„Signature stitching“ by Antonio Citterio
The special features of the Suita sofa are particularly evident in the leather version. The so-called „signature seams“ by Antonio Citterio, as he himself calls them, make all the difference. These are radius seams that do not result from the requirements of the upholstery, but are used specifically as purely design elements. They are complex to work with and are a recognizable feature of Citterio’s designs. The seams indicate the particularly high-quality and complex workmanship and can be described as a special feature on the market.
Designer: Antonio Citterio
Antonio Citterio’s thoughts on the development of the Suita sofa:
For me, a sofa is a frame with a cushion. And a cushion is nothing more than a pillow, something quite normal. I have been designing sofas for 45 years and have followed this approach almost from the beginning. It’s a simple approach, but not a simplistic one. Over the years I have seen many changes, but the modern, classic designs are still on the market.
